Behind the Scenes: Marie-Elizabeth Mali

I was so looking forward to being on the TEDxRutgersCamden stage. When I found out the event was suddenly changed to virtual, at first I was disappointed. But then I thought, “Okay, well, how can I make the best of this?”

I decided to make something creative instead of filming myself on my webcam standing in my office.

I found a videographer here in Mexico, who brought his assistant and drone operator, plus a makeup artist, to our home for a day of shooting that my speaker coach, Tricia Brouk, directed and produced, editing the footage for me with her editor in one day because we were up against such a tight deadline.

We ended up making a gorgeous short film! I’m so excited to have broken the mold of what a TEDx talk typically looks like with this presentation.

Producing this talk ended up becoming an eye opening opportunity that wouldn’t have happened had we not had to make this quick switch to virtual and I’m so happy with how it all turned out.
